Over 2 Million Cribs Recalled Due to Safety Issues

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today the recall of over two million cribs by the following manufacturers:

  • Million Dollar Baby
  • Evenflo
  • Child Craft
  • Delta Enterprises Corp.
  • Jardine Enterprises
  • LaJobi
  • Simmons Juvenile Products Inc.

The voluntary recall of cribs are due to concerns over malfunctioning side rails. If the rails unexpectedly move or become detached, it can leave a dangerous gap, which can then lead to a baby getting trapped, strangled, suffocating, or falling.

To date there have been no reported deaths due to the potential crib hazards. However, there have been 16 reported cases where an infant became trapped and one case where a infant was found unconscious and needed to be hospitalized.

the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued the recall and warned owners, "Do not attempt to fix these cribs with homemade remedies."

The recall follows a warning last month by the CPSC on the potential life threatening nature of drop-side cribs. In the past five years, a total of Nine million drop-side cribs have been recalled due to safety concerns.
